In Two Minds by Ocean Dreams

Hey there, thanks so much for sharing, i'm diggin this tune, the underlying bassline does it for me on this. Everytime I hear a wavy dark bassline, i'm in and I thought this track was really well put together. Everything blended really well and sounded very professional, however as a listener, I was left a little shortchanged at the end, I felt it ended a bit too sudden as I was really getting into it and could feel that there was another chorus coming before an outro but i was surprised and a little disapointed that it finished. Maybe thats something to aim for moving forwards aiming for around the 3 min mark and beyond so the listener feels a sense of satisfaction. Other than that, really liked it.
In regards to promo there are a number of things you can do yourself to get started with this, some you may already know but its the prolific approach to promo that helps songs get out to people, once they are there, its down to them to decide on whether they engage with you further based on the quality of your material, they just first need to know its there. You need to come up with a plan of action which will take some time and a bit of admin.
Use submithub to target a volume of blogs that you would like to reach out to. Dont be shy on this, go wild if you want. Then research another 5-10 blogs not on the submithub platform and proactively send your track to them. I'm thinking earmilk, stereofox etc. Collect information of how many blogs are out there and just see their submission criteria, what are they looking for, where are they based, whats the process etc. We are here to build momentum.
At the same time, do this for radio. Use the tunein app or another one similar where you can see online, community and traditional stations and find out their submission process, probably through their website. but do the same here, create a list and send them your track. Maybe even offer to do an interview at the same time, some community DJs like that. Again, right now we are just looking for different platforms and places where your tune is being played. You can then share details of that with your audience which gives them reassurance that you are credible and almost repays them for the trust they show in you by following you and liking your social media. It shows them that they were right to give you some of their time and attention.
Whilst this is happening, build up some opportunities for collaboration as working with others opens up the mind to new things, new ideas, new ways of working and new connections which maybe opens new doors. Build up a list of producers, writers and mixers who have worked on tracks that you love that are around the unsigned area, people like Danny George, intalekt, latir, marie dahlstrom, naked eye are good starting points and you can see the people they have worked with and you can see the connections. Another good way to gather possible people to work with is by seeing who booking agents have just signed up. Head to Paradigm agency and they show you what up and coming artists they've just signed. Of course, if they have been highlighted by an agency, clearly they have a rough idea that they could be magic and the great thing is a lot of these artists are at the very early stages in their careers so are more open to still learning their craft with others and maybe when lockdown ends soon, they would play at smaller venues, which if you got in there with them, could also feature you and you could support them? Lots of opportunities there but with this stuff you have to be proactive. Creating a track is just the start of the journey unless its just for you. Understand what you want to happen, what success means to you and create the time to push your art. Thats plenty to be getting on with so i'll leave it there for now, happy exploring and I hope that was helpful. All the best! chris
